We waited. Up and down weather throughout the year pushed us back - keeping all vingerons on edge. The grapes ripened and we harvested our first fruit on September 19th. Almost a month after the illustrious 2004 vintage started. The long 2006 harvest is over. And the holidays are here. An early "thank you" to St. Nicholas as it was a very good year. The 2006 wines have been put to barrel and we are preparing to bottle the 2005 wines. The "Emperor of Wine," critic/advocate, Chevalier dans l'Ordre de la Legion d'Honneur recipient Robert Parker was here in late October and he had nothing but good things to say about the 2004 release of DuMOL and Larkmead wines. DuMOL Chardonnays are topping out at 97 points ("Clare"), Pinot Noir at 96 ("Finn") and Syrah at 95 ("Eddie's Patch"). Larkmead wines shared similar success with the Solari Reserve (100% Cabernet) touting a potential of 96 points. Note: DuMOL and Larkmead wines are highly regarded and hard to find. And they are also pricey. Russian River Valley blends of DuMOL wines sell retail for north of $50/bottle. Designate wines, "named wines" typically from one or two vineyard sources, will top as high as $80 a bottle. Larkmead wines are at similar price points and are available to order from their website.
